Nearly everything is true, it’s just exaggerated and blown up out of all proportion.
Interestingly several of the literary agents who read it thought the last chapter was too far-fetched and spoiled it by over-exaggeration – which is funny since it’s the only part which I did not exagerate in any way, I basically translated and paraphrased the newspaper reports. But I don’t want to give you any plot spoilers! 😉
